After 7 years in prison, Laurent Gbagbo, (former President of Ivory Coast) has been acquitted by an ICC trial chamber. But to the shock of most observers, the ICC has decided to keep him in custody. Nothing about this strange process inspires confidence in long promised international justice, which so many hailed when it was founded.

Burundi has already withdrawn, and of course the great powers have not joined. The UN and France delivered Gbagbo to the ICC. It is time he be returned to continue his work for his people.
