In 1999 Bristol-based HTVs head of news and current affairs, James Garrett, made a 30 minute documentary about the Gloucestershire Freemasons. He discovered that masons give money to charity but that a human skull and cross bones is used in initiations and sometimes recruits look petrified. James examines the allegation that freemasonry is, in fact, a religious cult and that members join to aid their privilege and promotion.
