Hey Listeners,

I didn’t feel it was appropriate to use the words “best” and “2020” in the same sentence. So instead of a “best of” show, tonight we’ll just look back at some great tracks that were released in 2020.

I will say that music helped keep me sane in the months after the pandemic began. Though it interrupted my normal schedule and way of doing my show, I listened to a lot more music this past year than I had in the last several years. I bought more music, downloaded more music, shared more music with friends, and engaged in conversations about music more in 2020 than I had since I was a younger man. I reached out to old friends and sent them mixed tape CDs. I sent some old roomies surprise XMAS gifts of CDs. I read a number of books about bands and artists I love including ones about Guy Clark, Jeff Tweedy, and the band.

I checked out quite a number of rock docs including ones about Laurel Canyon, Other Music, NOLA, Creem Magazine and several others. I watched a number of artists sing tin their living rooms. I donated and purchased music to support our country’s music venues.

It was a year like no other and there may not have been a lot of “bests” associated with it, but thank goodness there as music and plenty of it. Tonight’s show is some tracks mostly new and some just new to me that made the year and life more bearable.
