4.7 million on waiting lists for NHS due to Covid 19 restrictions. 4.7 million waiting for operations in England Around 4.7 million people were waiting for routine operations and procedures in England in February â the most since 2007, NHS England figures show. Nearly 388,000 people were waiting more than a year for non-urgent surgery compared with just 1,600 before the pandemic began. During January and February, the pressure on hospitals caused by Covid-19 was particularly acute. NHS England said two million operations took place despite the winter peak. However, surgeons said hospitals were still under huge pressure due to the second wave of Covid, which had led to âa year of uncertainty, pain and isolationâ for patients waiting for planned treatment. Speaking on a visit to Dartmouth, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the government would âmake sure that we give the NHS all the funding that it needs⦠to beat the backlogâ. He said the situation had been âmade worse by Covidâ, and added: âWe do need people to take up their appointments and to get the treatment that they need.â NHS England recently announced that a £1bn fund would be used to help trusts restore operations and other services to get as many people treated as possible. Professor Stephen Powis, national medical director for the NHS in England, said treating 400,000 patients with Covid-19 over the course of the last year had âinevitably had an impact on the NHSâ.

Almost 7,000 scientists, virologists, and infectious disease experts recently signed a declaration against lockdown measures, urging that citizens across the west should be able to get on with their lives as normal, and that lockdown rules in both the United States and the UK are causing âirreparable damage.â Oxford University professor Dr. Sunetra Gupta was one of the authors of the open letter that was sent with the petition, along with Harvard Universityâs Dr. Martin Kulldorff and Stanfordâs Dr. Jay Bhattacharya. The declaration corresponds with other research that concludes lockdowns will âdestroy at least seven times more years of human lifeâ than they save. Other studies find that debilitating stress and anxiety caused by the lockdown, including despair caused by job loss, could lead to a myriad of negative health issues that will take a far greater overall toll on human life than the number of lives saved by the shutdown.

Bilderberger Shirley Williams destroyed the grammar schools. While serving as education secretary between 1976 and 1979, Williams relentlessly pursued the comprehensive school system and the abolition of grammar schools. Minister Ruaneâs policy of all children at age 11 going to their neighbourhood comprehensive would simply rob children from disadvantaged areas of the chance to go to a good school on merit. BRILLIANT BBC2 Documentary Series on next two Wednesday Evenings Bent Coppers: Crossing The Line Of Duty: With insider interviews, evocative archive footage and secret recordings, the documentary reveals the story behind The Timesâs investigation and shows how the public myth of incorruptibility protected the police for so long â The extent of police involvement in this morass of malfeasance had lain largely undiscovered until The Times newspaper published a whistle-blowing story in November 1969, triggered by a South London petty criminal called Michael Perry who was being blackmailed by a couple of Met detectives, DS Gordon Harris and Inspector Bernard Robson. Clandestine tape recordings of conversations between Perry and corrupt officers (many from a recorder hidden in a car boot) give the programme a frisson of immediacy â though the animated sequences illustrating this material were irritatingly feeble â while the factual details are still enough to boggle the mind. In Perryâs case, the cops conned him into thinking they had his fingerprints on a lump of gelignite, which they used as leverage over him. The claim that Russia paid bounties for US troops in Afghanistan has no basis and was even walked back by Biden administration officials on Thursday. The claim first appeared in a report from The New York Times last June, and since then, just about every US military leader said no intelligence corroborated the report.

The Inter-faith for Palestine group said that Nick Georges, 69, is being prosecuted âfor standing up for peace.â Mr Georges was arrested on February 23 along with five other members of the Palestine Action group during a rooftop protest at the UAV Engines factory in Staffordshire. The action successfully paused the siteâs production of deadly weapons, which have been used on Gaza. The five will appear at Stafford Combined Court on Monday morning for a pre-trial hearing, facing charges of causing criminal damage of over £5,000. The maximum penalty for such an offence is 10 years in jail. The inter-faith group called on supporters to join them outside the court at 9.30am and released a video with messages of solidarity for group member Mr Georges. Chairman Joseph OâNeill said: âNickâs action will have saved Palestinian children from murder by Israeli-regime drones. [His] Christian witness against one of 10 Elbit factories of death in the UK is an example to us all.â

After the Jewish state was established, relations between Orthodox (non-Zionist) Jews and Zionist Israelis became, if not fraternal, then quite tolerant, as between, say, ordinary Americans and Mennonites. Corbynâs general secretary, Jennie Formby, issued figures in April 2019 that showed disciplinary action had been taken against just 0.08 percent of Labourâs 540,000 members, even after the strict application of the antisemitism code and âpolitical interferenceâ by Corbynâs officials in speeding up disciplinary proceedings. During the latest legal proceedings, Labour has revealed equivalent figures for Starmer, relating to the period between May last year and last month. Although details about the investigations are not precise, in the worst-case scenario an even smaller percentage of Labour members were found to be antisemitic. These figures, the LA4J argue, suggest that Labour has not had an âantisemitism problemâ under either Corbyn or Starmer. That impression is shared by most Labour members. According to a YouGov poll commissioned last month by the Jewish Chronicle newspaper, a significant majority â 70 percent â believe that Labour does not have a serious problem with antisemitism. Accordingly, the withdrawal of these forces will begin on May 1 and symbolically end on September 11. American troops and their allies invaded Taliban-held Afghanistan after the September 11 terrorist attacks. The guise used to invade Afghanistan was to prevent the country from ever becoming a launch pad to attack the U.S. again. In his speech, Biden stressed that this goal has already been achieved and that the U.S. âcannot continue the cycle of extending or expanding our military presence in Afghanistan, hoping to create ideal conditions for withdrawal and expecting a different result.â âIâm now the fourth United States president to preside over American troop presence in Afghanistan,â he said, adding âTwo Republicans, two Democrats. I will not pass this responsibility on to a fifth.â

With soaring numbers of new cases and of deaths in both the USA and the UK, threatening collapse of health systems and economies, what are the official objections of scientists or policy makers to the application of Ivermectin-based therapies of high risk persons and to close contacts of COVID-19 cases? Marik, Kory et al (1, 2), Hill (3) and Lawrie (4,5), have summarised the impressive evidence of benefit. With Ivermectinâs low cost, easy administration, and broad safety record, even moderately reduced infectivity or disease severity with COVID-19 would be of net benefit. If opposed to such interventions, authorities should specify what additional data they need for a firm recommendation; how many more trials, how many more patients, for how long, and in what settings? Officially endorsed systematic administration of Ivermectin-based prophylactic treatment with guidelines and evaluation, would quickly settle any controversy about effectiveness; it would also allow definition of ideal doses, frequency and route of administration and deliberations about potential drug resistance and its minimisation can follow.
