El Sombrero Azul (The Blue Sombrero)
Anniversary of the foundation of the FMLN - the Salvadoran revolutionary movement that fought the US government backed military regime to a standstill in 1990 in a guerilla war and are now the major opposition party in El Salvador. In Canberra, Saturday 29 of October, the Assistant Bishop to Canberra and Goulbourne Pat Power, the Speaker of the ACT Legislative Assembly Wayne Berry, the representative of the Venezuelan Embassy Nelson Davila, Giovanni Ortiz from the Sydney committee of the FMLN, Jose Maria Funes, reading the poetry of Bernardo Zamora, all paying tribute to the achievements of the Farabundo Marti Liberation Front of El Salvador in resisting the imposition of US Imperialism on their country.
