Dr. Carstairs speaks about her new book: "Jailed for Possession: Illegal Drug Use, Regulation, and Power in Canada, 1920-1961"
In the early 1920s, drug legislation was borne out of racism, particularly the drive for Chinese exclusion from Canada's labour force. Carstairs speaks about the impact of drug legislation on users' health, work lives and relationships. "Jailed for Possession" is a legal and social history of drug use and regulation in Canada, 1920-1961.
