CALLING ALL NOSTALGIA JUNKIES (very much including Archivist) ,,, Similar to Chrisa's ongoing once-or-twice-a-month series on KBOO, ***LOST IN TIME***, KUOW[NPR Seattle] has broadcast SWING YEARS AND BEYOND 7pm to midnight, every Saturday evening for the last forty years ... For a couple of years now, KUOW has published playlists for SWAB on their website--but NO ACTUAL PROGRAM with its extraordinary range of historical, sophisticated music and rich with late Cynthia Doyon's--and now Amanda Wilde's encyclopedic narration ... YOUR ARCHIVIST has recorded SWAB off the internet many times over the last few years for his own enjoyment ... then on a whim Archivist uploaded the program of Jan 14th 2006 to radio4all.net ::: (catalog to date SWAB on radio4all.net) http://www.radio4all.net/index.php?op=result&action=series&series=SWING%20YEARS%20AND%20BEYOND%20informal%20archive&nav=series& --- and lo and behold, just three weeks later, KUOW finally started offering a streaming archive of each past week's program (hmmm...) IT WOULD APPEAR that ===Your Archivist shamed an important NPR station into delivery of a service it should have supplied well before the end of the last century ===In addition to shame, KUOW probably also figured that, with SWING YEARS AND BEYOND's vast international network of devoted listeners, the broadcasting/live webcasting station was LOSING DONATION DOLLARS to puny, upstart, capricious, blasphemous ... little ol' A-INFOS RADIO PROJECT aka radio4all.net === NEVER UNDERESTIMATE the power of this website ... a further example see notes FOR http://www.radio4all.net/proginfo.php? id=18499 ::: 1,301 DOWNLOADS IN LESS THAN A WEEK--and it wasn't even new material; just a compression of bigger files to make the clips accessible to those still on 56k dial-up modem ... WOW ... also XREF ::: http://radio.indymedia.org/news/2006/01/8159.php ::: http://www.kuow.org/programs/swing_years.asp ###
