The older archives (>10 years old) have been substantially recovered -- more than 23,800 files' worth -- and are now reachable through the search engine and via file download. Email here if you have any questions.
Your support is essential if the service is to continue, there are bandwidth bills to pay every month and failing disk drives toreplace. Volunteers do the work, but disk drives and bandwidth are not free. We encourage you to contribute financially, even a dollar helps. Click here to donate.

This special episode of Tapestry of the Times presents a series of one-of-a-kind original recordings made recently on a chilly Saturday afternoon on-site in Elkton, Maryland with the family and friends of the late great American legend, Ola Belle Reed. Her son Dave Reed, her nephews Zane and Hugh Campbell, and her friends Burton Debusk and Linda Weaver all gathered to pay tribute to Ola Belle.
Tapestry of the Times is an hour-long weekly podcast and radio program on public radio station WYPR 88.1 FM in Baltimore where host Aaron Henkin takes listeners on an ear-opening voyage back in time and around the globe through the wide-ranging sound archives of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings including some of the original names like Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie. You will also hear blues from Warner Williams and Robert Jr. Lockwood, gospel music old and new, and international folk songs from Columbia, Cuba, and Iran. Real music, real people, and the stories behind the sounds…on Tapestry of the Times.

Smithsonian Folkways is the nonprofit record label of the Smithsonian Institution, the national museum of the United States. Smithsonian Folkways is dedicated to supporting cultural diversity and increased understanding among peoples through the documentation, preservation, and dissemination of sound.
