Night Transmissions is a 120 minute show featuring vintage radio shows. Focusing on programs of the fantastic such as âEscapeâ, âLights Outâ and âX Minus Oneâ. It is transnational in its sourcing with shows from From England, Canada and South Africa. Wherever I can find shows in English and the public domain. Also, I include other appropriately licensed audio recordings (Short story and poetry readings).
This Program began for a now-defunct low power FM station in Cottage Grove, OR. I did 16 shows originally but if there is any interest in more I'd be willing to crank them out on a weekly basis, I just need to hear from people or stations about such interest. For now I will post one show a week here each Wed. until they are all posted, then who knows...like I said,it depends on the amount of interest shown.In the main, each episode consists of four approximately 30-minute long programs (not always, as sometimes I use a longer form show, so it may be 3 or fewer) and some filler to bring them in at 120 minutes.
Broadcast Advisories
Use these programs in any way that suits you, commercial, non-commercial (well,don't sell it). Use them on your low power FM station or your AM station. Stream it on your internet station or stream. Whatever. Edit them if you want to, however you want to! I'm easy. In a few cases commercials have been left in but in those cases there is disclaimer stating that they are there for "historical perspective" only. I have edited out any underwriter spots that once existed. There is no comment about run times ( i.e. "It's Sunday night at 10 pm and this is Night Transmissions.") Also I have edited out any mention of the town I live in. In other words I have endeavored to make make these programs as "Evergreen" and global as possible. I would even consider making (at some point) shows that are tailored to some degree for specific locations. In most cases the mp3 file runs a little longer than 120 minutes. However, in all cases the main show comes in at under 120 minutes; anything in excess of 120 minutes is just music that can safely be faded out.
Contains the following Shows?
For the first segment we delve into the archives of The CBS Radio Mystery Theater and come up with an episode from January the 2nd of 1980, "Revenge Is Not Sweet".
Segment two is from X Minus One, and is an adaptation of a classic science fiction story by Robert Sheckley "The Seventh Victim". This show aired on March the 6th of 1957. The story was also the basis for the 1965 film The Tenth Victim (the name change was probably to avoid confusion with Val Lewton's 1943 film The 7th Victim).
Also included in this episode of Night Transmissions is "Fire In The Sky"... an episode of The Mysterious Traveler from August the 28th of 1951.
The last segment is a short one.... from February the 13th of 1945 and by way of The Strange Doctor Weird we have fifteen minutes of Nazis and other unpleasant things in "The Secret Room".
To round off the show E. M. Clinton Jr. has a very short story "Untechnological Employment".
