Gay Asian Canadian writer Wilson Choy's life is "Not Yet" over (the 70-year-old survivor of 2 near-death heart attacks chats about his new memoir in the first of an insightful and entertaining 2-part conversation)... reviewer Janet Mason says Mary Cappello's "Called Back: My Reply to Cancer, My Return to Life" magically captures a raw reality... and how the hit 2005 gay festival short "Dare" about high school romance grew into a 2009 feature film that challenges movie audiences to take risks.
Produced and hosted this week by Greg Gordon. Correspondents: John Frame, Janet Mason, and Steve Pride.

A teen tells his female classmate that he "gave my first blow job," which is neither defined nor elaborated upon, during a short audio clip from the movie "Dare" early in that feature in Segment #3. While the phrase "blow job" is said twice, we don't believe that its use in the comedic context of the scene could be described as "gratuitous," and it *is* an excerpt from a well-regarded work of art. Nevertheless, the scene is introduced and outro'd by the sound of an old movie projector and can easily be cut out without harm to the overall feature if you prefer to do that.

"This Way Out" is distributed free of charge to more than 200 community radio stations around the world by the tax-exempt nonprofit Overnight Productions. You may broadcast the show as a whole or use the news and feature segments separately - with credit! Most of our operating expenses are funded by direct charitable donations from our listeners, and through voluntary program acquisition payments by our affiliate stations.
