This is a 64 kbs version of a weekly program airing on KSOW 106.7 FM in Cottage Grove, OR. as part of the stations commitment to sustaining the tradition great radio theater. I will post a new show by Tuesday or Wednesday of each week. There is also a 128 bit version.
In the main, each episode consists of four approximately 30-minute long programs (not always, as sometimes I use a longer form show, so it may be 3 or fewer) and some filler to bring them in at 120 minutes. .
Broadcast Advisories
Use these programs in any way that suits you, commercial, non-commercial (well,don't sell it). Use them on your low power FM station or your AM station. Stream it on your internet station or stream. Whatever. Edit them if you want to, however you want to! I'm easy. In a few cases commercials have been left in but in those cases there is disclaimer stating that they are there for "historical perspective" only. I have edited out any underwriter spots that once existed. There is no comment about run times ( i.e. "It's Sunday night at 10 pm and this is Night Transmissions.") Also I have edited out any mention of the town I live in. In other words I have endeavored to make make these programs as "Evergreen" and global as possible. I would even consider making (at some point) shows that are tailored to some degree for specific locations. In most cases the mp3 file runs a little longer than 120 minutes. However, in all cases the main show comes in at under 120 minutes; anything in excess of 120 minutes is just music that can safely be faded out.
As of show 21 there are 30 second musical interludes at 30,60 and 90 minutes. with the last 5 to 10 minutes or so of the show uninterrupted music that can be faded out on without too much ado, Exact times will be in the mp3 comment tag

Segment One:
Is The Mysterious Traveler from September 24th of 1944 entitled, "Death Laughs Last". It's one of those crime dramas that richly displays the Mysterious Traveler's sense of irony. Often on this show, ordinary, fairly regular people, through circumstances pretty much beyond their control, become involved with the seedy side of life. A choice for which they are always punished. Sometimes in the most awful and unfair ways. Tonight for example, a decent enough sort of guy, with a very sick wife, is by the indifference of others and the casual cruelty of the universe brought into conflict with the law.
Segment Two: From down the Hall of Fantasy. From October the 5th of 1953 comes , "The Dance of the Devil Dolls". Where on the way to their cabin two men on a fishing trip come across a strange man searching for a lost doll. A doll, he claims, he needs for the... "Dance". Although the man seems very queer and very agitated; they dismiss his odd behavior in favor of returning to their cabin where they have a pleasant meal. After a while, they hear the man again. This time outside the cabin talking, pleading with someone who speaks in a scratchy, faint and disquieting voice. Would it surprise you If I told you that the man soon turns up dead. Or if I told you that his death is only the start of things, bad things, for the other two men? No ... I thought not. Segment two is topped off by a Five-Minute Mystery , "Murder in blue".
Segment Three: Begins with an episode of ABC's Theater Five from September the 23rd of 1964 called, "We Are Alone". It opens up with the tense announcement of the discovery of a communication from far out in space. What does it mean? Does the title telegraph the plot? Or, could it be that the title is a red Herring? This segment continues with a short story by Robert Augustine Ward Lowndes - The Troubadour, which was first printed in 1951. Segment Four: Is an episode of Sleep No More for April 17 of 1957 where Nelson Olmsted reads for us the story of Aunt Tessie and her invisible friends as written by Virginia Swain.
