After denouncing the Roman Catholic Church--the Protestants got it last week, recall--we celebrate the fine Catholic tradition of Left social activism. We feature American peace- and social activist KATHY KELLY. She tells a touching & funny story of 5 average citizens who together fought the U.S. War Machine and won. They happen to be average citizens of IRELAND--but why wouldn't it work here just as well? A rerun of installment #39 (Dec 2008) with minor changes.
Kelly's talk swiped & excerpted from Mike McCormick's admirable show, "Mind Over Matters" (archived here: program # 29391).

Kelly is a superb storyteller. For me, the high point is her re-creation of Defense Attorney Nicks's full-brogue summation to the jury . . . the jury that somehow found the 5 Irish citizens Not Guilty of trashing a U.S. Navy warplane during a pit stop at Shannon Airport. (FWIW, 4 of these 5 Irishmen are women.)
