COMPLAINTS OF POLICE MISCONDUCT FROM NEWARK NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR YEARS BUT THE GRAVITY OF THE SITUATION WAS MADE CLEAR WHEN THE FEBRUARY COUNCIL MEETING DEGENERATED INTO A RAUCUS ACCUSATIONS OF DUPLICITY AND NEGLECT. AS A RESULT, A COUNCIL SAFETY COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING WAS SCHEDULED FOR LAST TUESDAY AT THE TUCKER CUMMUNITY CENTER.
WHILE FIVE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL FACED TWO HUNDRED MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY, BUT NEITHER POLICE DIRECTOR GARRY MCCARTHY NOT MAYOR CORY BOOKER WERE ANYWHERE IN SIGHT.
