Scott Horton is an attorney in New York and a contributing editor of Harper's Magazine. He lectures at Columbia University Law School and is a life-long human rights advocate. He co-founded the American University in Central Asia and has been an important figure in many foreign investment projects throughout Central Eurasia. He led many studies of abuse for the New York City Bar Association and chaired the Committee on International Law among other committees.

George Cattermole completed both his undergraduate and PhD degrees at Stanford University. There, he was a Lecturer in Structured Liberal Education (SLE), Ethics, Philosophy for over two decades. He now owns the San Gregorio Store in the titular town near Half Moon Bay.
