THIS WEEK-END, SEVERAL AMBASSADORS TO THE UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY OR IAEA ARE VISITING NUCLEAR ENRICHMENT FACILITIES IN IRAN.

NOTABLY ABSENT, HOWEVER, ARE REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE MAJOR WORLD POWERS, WHICH HAVE EITHER NOT RECEIVED OR DECLINED THE INVITATION.

FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS, THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN HAS BEEN PERIODICALLY ACCUSED OF PLANNING TO BUILD NUCLEAR WEAPONS BY THE UNITED STATES AND ITS EUROPEAN ALLIES, AND, IN JUNE LAST YEAR,THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ORCHESTRATED THE PASSAGE OF NEW UN SECURITY COUNCIL SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN.

INTERESTINGLY, TURKEY OPPOSED THE SANCTIONS AND WILL BE HOSTING, IN ISTANBUL, THIS WEEK, THE LATEST ROUND OF IAEA-LED NEGOTIATIONS OVER IRANS NUCLEAR PROGRAM.

ON FRIDAY, THE AMERICAN IRANIAN FRIENDSHIP COMMITTEE ORGANIZED A PANEL OF POLITICAL ANALYSTS AT A CHURCH IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN TO DISCUSS THE QUESTION OF "IRAN AS A NUCLEAR THREAT". WBAI FRED NGUYEN WAS THERE AND HE FILED THIS REPORT:
