Liberation beckons.
Produced and engineered by dj bennett (chillroom@killradio.org)

With thanks to wfmu.org and especially DJ Nat Roe, DJ Scott Williams and DJ Dan Bodah (with salutes to Trouble and DJ Ken as well). Also thanks to Greg Brosofske, my listeners, Weezy, Mike Shmitt, Michael Sheppard, Jason and Sarah. Comments highly unlikely but wished for.

160k, 75 minutes, melding Mutant Radio

Essentially this program is a series of radio appropriations that have been tweaked and integrated into a new series of audio manipulations. The show appears at first to be almost random but is in fact tightly controlled. It has stages and movement. I was initially inspired by DJ Nat Roe's use of the Starship song "We Built This City," generally considered to be one of the worst rock songs of all time (when Rolling Stone ran a bad song poll the song got so many more votes than any other it completely skewed the stats). I then added the work of DJ Dan Bodah and DJ Scott Williams, all from wfmu.org, which is the leading mutant radio station on earth, because their use of pop songs melting into each other blurs all boundaries. But when the show breaks (as it does several times) we are then left in what we shall call the Void.

For this Chill Room, I am overall inspired by the great Yves Klein (1928-1962) and his photomontage The Painter of Space Hurls Himself Into the Void (aka Leap Into The Void) from 1962.

Set (overlapping and incomplete): DJ Nat Roe-My Computer Died This Show / DJ Female Convict Scorpion-Dante's Towering Inferno / Blue Oyster Cult-Don't Fear the Reaper / Janis Ian-At 17 (chilled) / Billy Graham-What the Bible Says About Drugs / Patsy Cline-You're Stronger Than Me / Psychic TV-Tibetan Human Thigh Bone (as a horn) / Greg Brosofske-Inner Hitch (from Hitchcock Blonde) / Terry Stafford-Suspicion / Phil Collins, The Police, Ringo Starr, Richard Harris etc.... / The Association-Never My Love (x2) / The Equals-Baby Come Back / Garbage-Queer (Hefty Bag Mix) / Eraserhead Finale (from 80s vinyl) / Steve Moore-A Quiet Gathering / Throbbing Gristle-After Cease to Exist / Kate Bush-Wildman (new single radio edit)
