The Council of Elders is an independent group of leaders from the farm workers, sanctuary and human rights movements that shook the nation’s conscience with public protests over the past 50 years. They came to Occupy Wall Street NY to link hands across the years, from movement to movement, to deepening and expanding the determination of the diverse peoples of our nation to transform our country into a more democratic, equitable, just, and compassionate society”. The economic crisis which sparked the Occupy Wall Street movement also motivated these veteran protesters. Let’s listen to the voices of some of those who paved the way for us and now join with Occupy Wall Street now to forge ahead.
