Demonstrators in Greece are in the streets protesting wage and pension cuts, higher taxes and a reduction in labour rights. There are reports that the European Central Bank and the IMF are now calling for Greece to abolish its minimum wage. Costas Panayotakis is an associate professor of sociology at the City University of New York and author of Remaking Scarcity.
