The Obama administration has responded to Pakistani complaints of civilian deaths under CIA drone attacks by tripling the number of such attacks in recent weeks. Pakistani consternation and Karachi's inability to control the NATO/American attacks from Afghanistan has renewed concerns that the military might move to assert national sovereignty more effectively than the civilian government, according to FRED BRANFMAN, who first exposed secret American airstrikes in Laos during the Vietnam war.
