On The Commons is a weekly radio show dedicated to discussing the many issues surrounding mandatory homeowners associations, the fastest growing form of residential housing in the nation.
The first generation of homeowner associations were exclusionary and were used as a means to ensure homogeneity in the neighborhood. They existed to keep out people of different races, religions and countries of origin. Today, however, these discriminatory practices are illegal.
But who is protected by these laws? And how are these laws enforced?
On The Commons with me this week is Tony Baize. Tony is with the Kentucky Fair Housing Council and recently came to the aid of a single mother of five who was being discriminated against. Join us On The Commons this Saturday, April 26, 2003. We'll get the details of this case, learn more about the work this organization does and fair housing issues in general. You won't want to miss this one.
