Dave Meslin is one of Canada's most well-known proponents of citizen engagement. His work has helped cities confront the barriers that stop community members from engaging in local politics.He founded Torontoâs Public Space Committee and the Toronto Cyclists Union. Heâs responsible for the Downtown De-Fence Project which invited people to request removal of fences around their yards. His current projects are The Fourth Wall and Rabit, the Ranked Ballot Initiative of Toronto. Dave Meslin spoke about all of these initiatives in a talk titled Building a Culture of Participation at SFU on May 29th.
