The Unseen Legion is Hip-Hop. And so it is a little bit of the streets. Every street. Everywhere. It is the underdog in the fight, the underground in the struggle. It is hands-on, do-it-yourself, something-out-of-nothing. It is the music and language of survival, all around the world.
The Unseen Legion is people everywhere. In the true Hip-Hop tradition, we pay homage to our roots while taking care of the present, and building for tomorrow.
The Unseen Legion is NOW. It is cultural revolution and spiritual evolution. It is introspection and self-expression. It speaks truth to power... and the music never lies.
Episode 39: ULR Worldwide
UNSEEN LEGION RADIO had a busy month in July, and we thought we were just gonna take it easy this week. DJ EARL-E put together a very eclectic and international crate of wax and we had African sensation ZAP MAMA scheduled for a call-in.
But when BIN GRIM hit us up on short notice we could not say no. Because he hooked us up with the Original SHIRT KING PHADE, fresh off the release and signing of his new book, "SHIRT KINGS: Pioneers of Hip-Hop Fashion". As an added bonus, Phade arrived with King Cre8 himself as well! We went in early and stayed in til late. DJ Earl-E went deep into the crates and Phade went deep into hip-hop history. Highlights include Earl pulling out the original Audio Two vinyl with Shirt Kings gear on display, a call-in from street art legend Mark Seven and more history than you can imagine, including some never before/never again radio moments. We never linked up with Zap Mama but it all worked out for the best. That might have been just too much, even for a three hour show! Check it out. You'll see what I mean. ONLY on Unseen Legion Radio. The stuff hip-hop is made of.
