Listening to the Cahn & Van Heusen classic “High Hopes” puts us in mind of how the great songwriters have traditionally regarded the various denizens of the insect kingdom. That's right! Songs about insects this time on LISTENING PARTY!
Listening to the Cahn & Van Heusen classic “High Hopes” puts us in mind of how the great songwriters have traditionally regarded the various denizens of the insect kingdom. Imagine yourself as Father Noah, bugging out just before the deluge, trying to round up the buggy likes of three songs about flies, a couple about ants and aunties, no less than four widely varying songs about bumbling bees, and then some very specific subsegments: songs about men who are also spiders, songs about soggy butterflies caught in the deluge (looks like Noah didn’t get to them in time), and songs about insects partying. Artists this week include Doris Day, Doc Cheatham, Louis Prima, Monty Python (John Cleese), Bessie Smith, Michael Bublé, Louis & Sheila Jordan, Ray Noble & Al Bowlly, and Big Jay McNeely. It’s a bug’s life this time on LISTENING PARTY.
