On The Commons is a weekly radio show dedicated to discussing the many issues surrounding mandatory homeowner associations, the fastest growing form of residential housing in the nation.
Consumers generally want to know exactly what they are getting when they buy goods and services. Included in the item or service they purchased are the intangibles that go with it like warranties, repairs, exchanges and expectations. Housing consumers are no different. In addition to the physical structure, their purchase comes with a bundle of intangibles. But if that home happens to be in a mandatory membership common ownership development, those intangibles increase dramatically. What are their expectations and are those expectations being met?
On The Commons with me this week are Pia Trigiani and Frank Rathburn. Pia, an attorney with Troutman Sanders in Virginia, is past president of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and current chair of the CAI Government and Public Affairs Committee. Frank is the current Vice President of Communications and Public Relations for the same organization. Pia and Frank will be explaining CAI's new program called Rights and Responsibilities. Please join us this Saturday, May 24, 2003. We'll learn more about it and what it means to you, the housing consumer.
