The Pledge of Allegiance is less about liberty and justice than it is about citizens dedicating every ounce of their beings to the preservation of The State mechanism. The true intent of The Pledge has to be framed within the context of its author’s intent and background, which was steeped deeply in socialism. And socialism, for all its warm and fuzzy promises, is a slippery slope, as we soon will see, into totalitarianism. This is about a collectivist society in which an individual’s worth is measured by his/her worth to The State.
