On The Commons is a weekly radio show dedicated to discussing the many issues surrounding mandatory homeowner associations, the fastest growing form of residential housing in the nation.
There have been problems in mandatory membership homeowner associations for as long as there have been mandatory membership homeowner associations. Over the years the powers associations enjoy have increased dramatically and stories of abuses by boards, managers and some attorneys, abound. These abuses of power and authority cover everything from the purely petty and ridiculous to the absolute horrendous. And nothing is more obscene than the power to foreclose.
What should be done about these abuses and what happens when legislation is introduced to prevent the out of control misuse of this power?
On The Commons with me this week is Wendy Laubach. Wendy, a Houston Texas attorney has worked with, and has helped prevent some forced sales from being completed. She has also testified on behalf of the rights of individual homeowners in mandatory membership associations. Please join us On The Commons this Saturday, June 14, 2003 as we get caught up on how well Texas homeowners are faring in the current legislative session.
