Dec. 24, 2014, 10:51 a.m.
Keith Ellis, Canadian/Jamaican poet and scholar, summarizes the long and violent history of U.S. efforts to destroy the Cuban revolution. The mission of the Cuban Five was to stop terrorism against Cuba. They did not harm America in any way, yet they were subject to draconian sentences.

Dr. Ellis praises the unifying role of ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America) and especially CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States). These organizations created a unity that INCLUDES Cuba, and a unity that US has not been able to penetrate.

Ellis contrasted the great humanitarian work of the Cubans, esp. their medical doctors who are at the forefront in Africa fighting Ebola to the US pursuit of militarism and torture.
Keith Ellis, Canadian poet and first Jamaican scholar to receive a doctor honoris causa (honorary doctorate) from Cubas prestigious University of Havana, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, author of several books on Spanish writers, and author of new book on the Cuban Five in which the Five write essays. (Book was completed before the Five were released).
