Svetlana Thomas, member of the Russian Congress Canada (http://russiancongresscanada.org) and Victory Day 70 remembrance of Russia's defeat of Germany WWII (www.victoryday70.com)
Svetlana Thomas explains how the current war in Ukraine brought together the Russian-Canadians who immigrated from many countries to form the Russian Congress of Canada, which has spread from Toronto to all of Canada.
Thomas emphasizes Canada cannot be indifferent to what is going on in Ukraine now, nor Canada's role in the war. Passing on education, culture and tradition to the younger generations is necessary --they must never forget the "immortal regiment" who took down Nazi fascism.
The more culture that diverse groups bring to Canada, the more all benefit.
