In the aftermath of the Charleston massacre and in the midst of the ongoing struggle by African Americans against police violence across this continent, Back in the USSR once again delves into the nature of racial apartheid in North America. As Eddie Conway of the Black Panther Party put it in the context of the current debate over the Confederate flag, in reality the flag of racial apartheid is flying everywhere in North America from the Mexican border to the North Pole. Racism is embedded in the fabric of the capitalist state in Canada and the U.S. alike, and its systemic nature must be understood if we want to resist it effectively.
