On The Commons is a weekly radio show dedicated to discussing the many issues surrounding mandatory homeowner associations, the fastest growing form of residential housing in the nation.

How do green fields, thick forests and acres of beautiful desert get transformed into housing developments, shopping centers, schools and recreational facilities? How do once dilapidated urban buildings, and even entire neighborhoods, get rehabbed and given new life? Is there a plan for how to use the land or do all the buildings just neatly fall into place?

On The Commons with me this week is John McIlwain. John is the Senior Resident Fellow with the Urban Land Institute and J. Ronald Terwilliger Chair for Housing. He has 30 years experience in planning and development and has a wealth of knowledge in the field. We'll talk a little about ULI and its role in how land is used, developed and, in some cases, redeveloped. And we'll speculate on the shape of housing in the future. Please join us On The Commons this Saturday, March 27, 2004 for what promises to be an extremely interesting show.
