On March 28th, The Cambridge Bethlehem People to People Project held the first of what they hope will be a series of informal coffee house presentations offering films, talks, and discussions concerning the Palestine struggle against Israeli colonialism and apartheid. This first offering took place in conjunction with three Harvard student organizations and was held in Harvard Yard. It featured Palestinian Refugee, Journalist, and filmmaker Ziad Samarouch, who also serves on the staff of the Middle East Childrenâs Alliance (MECA), and staff attorney of the ACLU and member of the National Layers Guild Carl Williams, who joined each other in drawing parallels between incarceration patterns in Palestine and the United States.
This Week In Palestine was there to record the presentations for broadcast today. As is often the case, some of the presentation included a power point presentation, but the narrative informs us of what is going on and therefore the broadcast is relevant for a radio broadcast even if we cannot see the images, and even though it requires some creative editing.
We begin with Attorney Carl Williams speaking about the USâs so called Criminal Justice System, and will flow immediately to Ziad Samarouch's description and analysis of the Israeli tide of incarcerations of children and young people on the streets of Palestine today.
This Week In Palestine (a weekly 8am feature of Truth and Justice Radio (TJR)) is an award-winning 45-minute (or more) segment of news from Palestine and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization of their homeland. It speaks from the point of view of Palestinians and those who care about them. TJR is aired Sundays 6-10am ET on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA, also streamed live and archived for two weeks at wzbc.org; TJR's modest website, truthandjusticeradio.org, has a link to This Week In Palestine archives back thru 1-6-2008; editions are also accessible at radio4all.net or by navigating through our playlists. TJR sometimes airs Palestine coverage IN ADDITION to that provided by This Week In Palestine. We hope you'll write to us at tjradio@fastmail.com if you rebroadcast our work or have questions or comments.
