Philanthropy Together’s Tyeshia Wilson

March 1, 2023, 12:24 a.m.
Many perceive philanthropy to be the exclusive domain of the super wealthy. Those people are apparently unaware of the efforts of this week’s guest on Sea Change Radio. Giving circles are a way for people of more modest means to give philanthropically – these are smaller groups of individuals who collectively allocate resources to what they deem as worthy charitable organizations and community projects. Today we are speaking with Tyeshia “Ty” Wilson, the Director of Engagement at a nonprofit called Philanthropy Together whose mission is to advance charitable giving that is people-centered and equitable. We learn all about giving circles, how her organization facilitates them, and the importance of Black-led collective giving.

Leo makes his long-awaited return to the China Shop this week to talk about OFL's plans for the new year! Listen in as we discuss Leo's recently published Trading Playbook, focusing on preparation, trade management and confidence. We also talk about orderflow and reading the DOM and how new traders should work to incorporate those tools before wrapping up with an explanation of the new "autoplot" study coming out this week. About Leo: Leo started his trading journey with options mainly through options data/flow tools, after getting tired of trying to find the next mover and carrying overnight risk he then found the futures market. His focus is now mostly on ES and NQ. His favorite OF Labs study is the buy and sell zones because they help automate the process of finding areas where the pullback in the market gives you the best risk/reward to take the continuation trade. About OrderFlow Labs: OFL is a group of die-hard futures traders and a C++ Wizard who have a passion for trading the futures market using Orderflow tools. Orderflow Labs was created as a collective effort of our own work and experience trading the futures markets. Our goal is simple, we aim to help both new and experienced traders gain confidence, reduce your screen time and help you refine your edge.

We meet Amy Mayer, the Onboard Outreach Officer for the JOIDES Expedition 397, and research fellow Saray Martinez. We learn how the JOIDES brings up core samples from the ocean floor, that they then slice, x-ray, and study. Some of the soils they are bringing to the surface are over 300 million years old. Scientists aboard the JOIDES stay for a short rotation, and collect as much data as possible. The ship is drilling for core samples 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when they are at the drilling site. The Kids Crew have a lot of questions for Amy and Saray about life on board a scientific research vessel. We also hear a poem by Kenn Nesbitt, from his poetry playground Poetry4Kids.com. Mixed with great music celebrating the sea, get to the bottom of the ocean with us, this time on The Children's Hour. This episode was recorded by Katie Stone at the Sunspot Solar Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA, and produced by Christina Stella and Katie Stone. 2023 The Children's Hour Inc.

Mark Feeney – "Nixon at the Movies"

Feb. 24, 2023, 11:53 p.m.
Nixon at the Movies, A Book About Belief Richard Nixon, and the movies he watched while he was president… On his third night in office, January 22, 1969 Nixon saw The Shoes of the Fisherman in the White House movie theater. From then until August 1973, when he resigned the presidency Nixon watched over 500 movies in the White House, at Camp David, and other places he frequented. This is an average of 2½ movies per week during his presidency. The book, Nixon at the Movies, A Book About Belief, by Boston Globe journalist Mark Feeney examines the role movies played in forming Nixon’s character and career, and the role Nixon played in the development of American film. Ronald Reagan may have been the first movie star president, but Feeney argues that Nixon was the first true cinematic president. In this program, recorded in January 2005, Mark Feeney begins by commenting on the effect that the 500 plus movies that Nixon watched had on him and his presidency. Mark Feeney recommends “The Whole Equation,” by David Thompson. Originally Broadcast: February 22, 2005
