Professor John McWhorter— "Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue"
Dec. 13, 2024, 5:38 a.m.
What is it about the words we speak that convey concepts, nuances, ideas and sometimes even start wars? Where do they come from, what is their history and how do they shape our minds and ability to communicate? These are just some of the questions we asked Professor John McWhorter, author of “Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue,” when we spoke with him from his home in New Jersey on December 1, 2008.
The book Professor McWhorter recommends is “Ziegfeld: The Man Who Invented Show Business,” by Ethan Morddenn.
Lessons from COVID-19. Mass Formation. Stand for Democracy against Technocracy
Dec. 13, 2024, 4:54 a.m.
This week, on the Global|Research News Hour, with world tensions frightening us and leading to embrace the pandemic treaty and the Pact for the Future among other arguably technocratic remedies to the classic Hegelian problem reaction solution, we explore the dynamics of the recent scare known as Pandemic, learn from similar suggested versions in history, and source out ways of preparing ourselves for a possible totalitarian dynamic playing out in the near future. Our first guest, Dr Bryan Ardis, talks about his own experiences within the medical care system within the United States and his considering a reason other than COVID-19 to the high death toll over the last few years. Then we speak to researcher Mattias Desmet about the psychological state he saw vast sectors of the Global Population subjected to and how it, together with propaganda, linked us to Totalitarian frameworks for a new technocracy. Finally, UK former political figure James Ferguson speaks to us about his organization and how it attempts to liberate us from the gradual allure of giving up our freedoms and being happy.

Syria Collapses - Ambassador Chas Freeman
Dec. 11, 2024, 12:58 a.m.
Lottaz quotes the news of the day: Bashar al-Assad, the long-term leader of the Syrian state, had just arrived with his family in Russia where he has been granted asylum. And Damascus is now in the hands of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Iran has evacuated its embassy and the Russians are, according to their own statements, in talks with the “rebels” AKA “terrorists”, who are now in control of large swathes of Syria.
Pascal Lottaz discusses what all of this means with Ambassador Chas Freeman. He served in the United States Foreign Service, the State and Defense Departments in many different capacities over the course of thirty years. Most notably, Freeman worked as the main interpreter for Richard Nixon during his 1972 China visit and served as the U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 1989 to 1992, where he dealt with the Gulf War.
Pascal Lottaz is Assistant Professor at Waseda Institute for Advanced Studies - and Adjunct Professor for European Politics at Temple University, Japan Campus.
Lottaz programs the YouTube channel Neutrality Studies where the full length interview is posted under the title: Syria Collapse: Israel Wins, Russia Setback, Iran Isolated & Closer to the Bomb | Amb. Chas Freeman
