Collins dispels some of the myths about Habyarimana and his government that were fabricated by the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) and the Western powers to demonize and bring down the Habyarima government, and to make way for the US supported RPF.
A major myth is the "Akaza" (little house), which deceptively paints a picture of Habyarimana's wife, family, and inner circle as "extremist Hutu" upset with concessions Habyarimana made during the Arusha Accords and planning a "genocide" against the Tutsi.
Another myth: Habyarimana denied the Tutsi refugees from the 1970s war to return to Rwanda.
Collins shows how international justice morphed into international politics when the prosecution at the ICTR refused to honor the evidence showing the RPF shot down the plane carrying both President Habyarimana and Burundi President Ntaryamira.
