CORE has grown tremendously in the past couple years, from a handful of teacher union activists, fed up with the seeming unwillingness of the teacher’s union leadership to fight Renaissance 2010, the plan to privatize a large number of Chicago’s public schools, to potentially the largest caucus by membership in the union. Now CORE is mounting a serious challenge to the current union leadership in the upcoming union elections to be held next May.
