In this compelling interview, legal rights scholar Michelle Alexander talks about her eye-opening book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. In her interview with television talk show host Henrietta J. Burroughs, Alexander explains why she thinks America has developed a new caste system based on race, how the criminal justice system uses America’s prisons as a form of racial control and why it’s a moral outrage to keep viable young men in the cages that exist in America’s prisons.

This thought provoking interview presents information that will be as disturbing and as dismaying as the evidence and conclusions presented in her book. Listeners might disagree with some of her conclusions, but they will not forget what she says or the conviction with which she says it.
