We show how  the U.S. food industry became cartelized and vertically integrated after World War II with the emergence of agribusiness.  As the large food corporations and their partners in the oil and chemical industry pursue profits, the quality of the U.S. diet has steadily deteriorated with the massive use of pesiticides, preservatives and corn syrup.
