Quebec voters evidently felt that the stakes were high.  While the Parti Quebecois was able to form the government, the Liberal Party almost matched the PQ in the popular vote. A new right-wing party, Coalition Avenir Quebec, elected 19 members and the progressive party, Quebec Solidaire, elected two members.
