Rapping with Boots Riley

Being a huge fan of The Coup and the political sting in their lyrics a 15 minute interview with front man Boots Riley was an exciting prospect but also a daunting.

There’s so much to talk about in so little time, aside from the new album I really wanted to hear what Boots had to say about things like… Pork and Beef, 500 ways to Kill a C.E.O and Fat Cats and Bigga Fish… among other topics which come up in his music.

The new album Sorry to Bother You is the soundtrack to a movie Boot’s has written about his time working in a call center.

We didn’t get to talk about that during the interview though instead we talked about the band’s tour to Europe, Occupy Oakland and protest tactics.
