The following presentation was recorded at the International Student Centre in Toronto (University of Toronto) at the beginning of June of 2002. Carlos Chen Osorio was in Canada as part of the Road to Kananaskis speaking tour, organized by Rights Action, an NGO working in solidarity with the people of Guatemala. Carlos Chen Osorio is a founding member of ADIVIMA, a non-governmental organisation created by the survivors of the massacres of Baja Verapaz (ADIVIMA stands for Association for the Integral Development of Victims of Violence in the Verapaces Maya Achí). Part of their work involves the exhumation of clandestine mass graves of people massacred by the army during Guatemala's civil conflict in the region of Baja Verapaz, a place inhabited by the Maya-Achí indigenous people.
