Dick Flacks is a professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has written extensively on social movements, youth, and democratizing society. He contributed to the Port Huron Statement, calling for Participatory Democracy and leading to the foundation of the Students for a Democratic Society. He spoke at an ACLU sponsored forum on the Patriot Act and Homeland Security.
