This Week In Palestine is produced at WZBC-FM, a student operated radio station at Boston College. Due to the pandemic, Boston College students have been sent home and will not return until Autumn 2020. Therefore, programming has been suspended at WZBC for the immediate future. We welcome you to access our permanent archive at truthandjusticeradio.org: click on “This Week in Palestine Archive.” You’ll find our past broadcasts all the way back to 1-6-2008.

Here are the three pieces we have squeezed into today's edition:

1. Devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Palestinians, especially those in refugee camps; what is required but not available; the community's heroic efforts to mitigate. We read portions of a communiqué from our friend in Bethlehem, Abed Abusroar, who directs the Al Rowwad Cultural Center in the Aida Refugee Camp.

2. Daunting mental health challenges to an imprisoned people held under military siege, especially those in Gaza. This mental health crisis is the subject of our feature presentation today. Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, director of the Gaza Mental Health Center, talks to Steven Sacker in a podcast called Hard Talk that was recorded in London, England.

3. Will humanity fail or rise to the challenge? A comprehensive analysis of our plight. Before we sign off, there is one more Palestinian voice we need to hear. Mazin Qumsiyeh, founder and director of the natural history Museum at Bethlehem University, longtime friend, and activist extraordinare, has written this analysis, which we share in full.

Thank you for listening! In our absence, you can go to imemc.org for good current reporting from Palestine (but not audio) while we are off.
Begun in 2004, This Week In Palestine (a weekly 8am feature of Truth and Justice Radio (TJR) is an award-winning 45-minute (or more) segment of news from Palestine and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization of their homeland. It speaks from the point of view of Palestinians and those who care about them. TJR has been aired Sundays 6-10am ET on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA, also streamed live and archived for two weeks at wzbc.org; TJR's modest website, truthandjusticeradio.org, has a link to This Week In Palestine's permanent archives back thru 1-6-2008. TJR sometimes airs Palestine coverage IN ADDITION to that provided by This Week In Palestine. We hope you'll write to us at tjradio@fastmail.com if you rebroadcast our work, or have questions or comments. Please watch for our return to air.
