Mark Lanegan is a 47 year old American rock musician and singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Ellensburg, Washington, Lanegan began his career in music with the band Screaming Trees in 1985 along with members with Gary Lee Conner, Van Conner and Mark Pickerel. During his time in the band, Lanegan also started a low-key solo career and released his first solo studio album, The Winding Sheet, in 1990. The Trees officially called it quits in 2000 and since 1990, he has released 7 solo albums and is perhaps better known for many of his varied and many collaborations.
Mark is best known for his baritone, rough, and weary tone that practically allows you to count every cigarette he ever smoked. Every cocktail he has ever consumed.

Mark already had 4 solo releases out as well as some collabs by the time the trees broke up in 2000. In and out of rehabs but by the early 2000 had finally cleaned himself up. It was pretty simple, either continue on the path he was and die or get clean and live, keep making music. We nearly lost Mark there for a decade or so but he has proven that clean living hasn't made his music or his voice any less potent.
