Chomsky explains why our 2008 election was far less democratic than recent elections in Haiti and Bolivia--and why the Obama administration would likely serve the financial elite at the expense of ordinary citizens.
Unfortunately, Chomsky proved right on every count.

In his brief introduction, KD argues this: Yes, Trump is unfit to be President, and many of his policies are disasters. But the same was true of Trumps Republican predecessors W. Bush and Saint Ronald Reagan. The main difference is that Reagan and Bush each had the full support of Americas oligarchs and corporate elite--and hence the full support of the media. Trump does not have their full support.
And let not Republican malfeasance blind us to the sins of the Democrats, specifically Barack Obama. He served the oligarchs and the elite--and damaged "the 99%"--just as thoroughly as the Republicans.
Noam Chomsky is too gracious ever to say, "I told you so." But in this fine 2008 talk he very persuasively warns of what was likely to come. And did come.
