Ex-AIPAC journalist MJ Rosenberg speaks at MA Peace Action conference
Dec. 9, 2015, 5:58 p.m.
In this episode we take a look at the Jewish Lobby and its manifestations at the local and national level. (By âJewish Lobby,â we mean the racist voice of todayâs Israel, which is not the same as that of all Jews.)
For our main feature, we present ex-AIPAC journalist MJ Rosenberg, speaking recently at a conference sponsored by Massachusetts Peace Actionâs Palestine Working Group. Rosenberg provides a detailed inside look and is well qualified to do so.
Before that feature, we report on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authorityâs recent decision to refuse paid advertisements on âpolitical or social issuesâ following an outcry over a pro-Palestinian ad at a Red Line T stop. It is clear that the power of the Jewish lobby was on full display here, and although the ad was based on a verifiable fact, screams of anti-Semitism and hate speech filled the air.
We also report on continuing JCRC-sponsored all-expenses-paid trips to Israel for community, religious, and political âleadersâ for years and years, including local, state and federal legislative representatives. This time there was some public pushback against the acceptance of such trips by 10 Massachusetts State Senators. We present a Mondoweiss article on that pushback by Nancy Murray of Boston Alliance for Water Justice.
After the main feature, we also discuss the raging controversy in the United states and throughout the world concerning the immigration of Syrian refugees. True to form, Israel turns away Syrians, just as it turns away Palestinians coming in to be with their families.

Gareth Porter on Why Turkey shot down Russian Jet and more
Dec. 9, 2015, 1:15 p.m.
Gareth Porter delves into background of Turkish support of al-Nusra front, Syria's al-Qaeda chapter, to explain Turkey's decision to shoot down Russian jet on 11/24 and its key role in supporting the anti-Assad forces in Syria, joined by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, all of whom are given passes by the Obama administration; that the Russians were attempting to cut off a crucial road and communication line vital to al Nusra which was threatening an Alawite area at the time;; how Obama administration continues to deny al-Nusra's key role in anti-Assad fight while speaking of 'moderates'; when there aren't any; that Turkey's focus is ousting Assad and suppressing Kurds; how US assists Saudis in war on Yemen wile ignoring its human rights violations; he also explains Iran's interest in defending Syria and therefore Hezbollah because Hez's strength limits Israel's ability to safely attack Iran; and much more, including Clinton's hawkish positions..
Jeff Blankfort: News/Op:Turkey, ISIL San Berdoo False Flag?
Dec. 9, 2015, 12:42 p.m.
Blankfort opens with report on US air attack on Syrian base and US denial; Obama's lack of sympathy for Russian ISIL victims, chiding Putin for not having resolved Syria situation; then examined Turkey's role as key ISIL ally, allowing flow of fighters, arms, and oil sales, and Obama's 'failure' to deal with it; then turns to San Bernadino terror attack and first reports that attackers were white men have been ignored and replaced by Farook and Malik with highly questionable supporting evidence. HEAR: Eyewitness accounts of shooters recorded by NBC and CBS; Blankfort notes no survivors identified either Farook or Malik and curious lack of attention by police, FBI, and MSM to get their stories or speak to early eyewitnesses Predicts that incident will be used to speed up militarization of domestic police defusing post-Ferguson criticism. Has all elements of a False Flag action.

Peru: A Window into Ancient History and Today
Dec. 9, 2015, 7:14 a.m.
Peru is a county about which Iâve been curious for over 60 years, beginning when I first learned of the Inca Empire. Ten years later the Peace Corps sent me to Peru as volunteer for two years in 1964.
Peruâs current societies are windows into a world in which many Andean people live in the three adjoining countries of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. The complex societies which flourished in this region, centuries before the Inca Empire was destroyed by the Spanish invaders in the 16th century are still very much a part of the lives of people whose homes and communities are located high in the Andes between 10,000 and 14,000 feet above sea level. Many still enjoy and celebrate the traditions rooted in the ancient cultures of their land.
When Radio Curious visited Peru and Bolivia in the fall of 2015 we engaged in several conversations about ancient and current times in Peru. Edith Zapata, an independent licensed Peruvian tour guide, based in Cusco, Peru, is our guest in this program.
Edith Zapata and I visited in the court yard of a somewhat noisy guest hostal in Cusco, Peru, on November 10, 2015. We began our conversation with her description of the geological history of the Cusco valley, and moved forward in time to how some of the current leaders of the Catholic Church and some of the people of the greater Cusco area related to each other.
You may contact Edith Zapata by email at ezv27@hotmail.com. The movie she recommends is âIn Search of Happyness,â starring Will Smith.
This interview was recorded in Cusco, Peru, on November 10, 2015.

Vandana Shiva: Soil Not Oil (ONE of TWO)
Dec. 8, 2015, 8:19 p.m.
This is the keynote speech by the Indian physicist, ecologist, seed collector, anti GMO and Monsanto campaigner, teacher of organic agriculture, author and founder of many vibrant organizations. In a life spanning local action and international politics, academic teaching and gardening alongside her rural neighbors Vandana Shiva has become an inspiration to many.
Her books include: Stolen Harvest, Earth Democracy, Biopiracy, the plunder of nature and knowledge, Water Wars, and Soil Not Oil. This book, first published in 2007, has become influential beyond it's initial success because it addresses the most urgent issue of our time: Climate change.
As we are becoming more aware that industrial agriculture is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions that bring about climate change - Vandana Shiva and others are now making the case that restoring the soil, and recovering organic agriculture around the world can not only dramatically limit climate change but even has the capacity to sequester carbon back into the soil, that has already been emitted into the air .
In September 2015 a two day conference took place in Richmond, CA, to discuss this timely potential in much detail. In honor of Vandana Shiva the organization and conference were named Soil Not Oil and she was asked to give the keynote address.
Recorded in Richmond, CA, September 4, 2015.

Jeff Boehm: Seal Salvation
Dec. 8, 2015, 4:26 p.m.
If youâve ever seen a seal, bobbing its head in the ocean, you might have been too busy admiring its natural beauty to think about the obstacles that this graceful creature had to overcome to reach adulthood. Our guest today on Sea Change Radio is Jeff Boehm, a veterinarian and the executive director of the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA. When he sees that seal, he sees a potential patient. Ocean trash, toxic algae blooms, domoic acid, and over-fishing are just a few of the health threats that human activity is inflicting on marine life. We discuss these adversities and others facing seals, sea lions, and marine mammals in general, and learn about the work that Dr. Boehm and his team do to try to mitigate the perils of living in an increasingly dangerous ocean habitat.
