Sounds Irish is a weekly program coming straight from County Wicklow in Ireland, hosted by Joe Bollard, one of the elder statesmen of the Irish show band scene. Each program features a variety of Irish and Irish-related songs from many different genres, along with a healthy dose of banter from your host. Please consider adding Sounds Irish to your stations' weekly lineup of programs. All we ask is that we know where the show is being aired so that we can give mention on the program. To contact the show, it is best to send email to Joe Bollard directly at joebollard2@eircom.net
The 2-hour program is posted weekly in multiple parts for broadcasters to insert their own breaks.

The Shirt Off Your Back: Lydia Wendt and Michael Townsend
July 28, 2015, 6:59 p.m.
Among the inherent contradictions of capitalism, according to Karl Marx, is that private profit rests on the backs of workers who gain little from the arrangement, other than perpetuating the wealth of those to whom they sell their labor. But there is a movement afoot to mitigate that contradiction. In business schools, and increasingly in actual capital enterprises, people are talking about, and working toward a âtriple bottom lineâ which considers not only private profit but creating positive social and environmental impact. This week on Sea Change Radio, we talk with two professionals involved in this new way of doing business. First we take a look at a small textile entrepreneur whoâs cultivating responsible sourcing for the clothes we wear. Next, we talk to a sustainability consultant about how he helps businesses employ alternative ways to define success.

Out of the Woods - Show #277 - 8-1-15
July 28, 2015, 6:14 p.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length.
Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul
Our Common Future Under Climate Change - Part ONE - From the July 7-10 conference held in Paris
July 28, 2015, 2:28 p.m.
TUC Radio is focussing on climate change in preparation of the Climate Summit coming up in Paris from November 30 to December 11, 2015 (COP 21)
In the early days of July, 2015, over 100 countries sent 2000 delegates to Paris to discuss the physical, economic and social aspects of climate change. The conference hoped to inspire ambition for a global climate treaty later this year in December at the COP 21 Climate Conference, also in Paris.
Some prominent conference speakers stated matter of factly that we need not just reduce but actually end the carbon based economy that relies on oil, coal and gas - and we have to do it within the next two decades â which is probably the greatest challenge humanity ever faced. So countries have agreed that Paris in 2015 is the time and place to finally sign an international treaty requiring all nations to begin reducing carbon emissions.
The French president Francois Hollande had planned to open the conference - but he was busy in meetings over the debt crisis in Greece. In his place two very interesting women gave the keynotes. Najat Vallaud-Belkacem is the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Research. She was born in 1977 in Morocco in a village near Nador. Previously she was minister of Women's Rights.
Ségolène Royal is a prominent member of the French Socialist Party and the Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy. She is a former member of the National Assembly and has held several ministerial positions.
Their concept of the science of climate change stands in extraordinary contrast to the the discourse within the US Congress where climate change deniers still hold forth. I was reminded of Jon Stewart's Daily show right after the huge Climate March in NYC in September 2014. This Daily Show clip resents climate change deniers in the US House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

This is for Andrew Loku, for Sandra Bland, for Tamir Rice, for Freddie Grey, and all the other African-Americans and African-Canadians who have fallen victim to a racist capitalist system that perpetuates racial apartheid and has done so for far longer and far more successfully than the old regime in South Africa ever could.

#710 - Facing The Failing Culture Of Control - 3
July 28, 2015, 8:04 a.m.
We have another program in our series on the failing culture of control. Last time we looked at the development of nuclear technology as a result of competition between nation states, this time we look instead at the 21st development of social technology to divide and conquer the world's population. Faced with the organized efforts to misdirect their altruistic impulses of the public at large by terrorizing them and implanting false beliefs, 3 speakers voice their iconoclastic and unwavering dissent.

US College student recounts her upbringing in Jerusalem and the West Bank
July 27, 2015, 6:25 p.m.
In this edition we feature a presentation by Serene Murad, born in the United States and raised in Palestine. Her mother is American and her father is Palestinian. She recently completed her Freshman year at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Her story is interesting and through it we get a realistic view of life in both Jerusalem and in the West Bank. Serene spoke to a peace action group in Natick and it was recorded by our colleague, Stan Robinson, for This Week In Palestine. The presentation is informal, with spontaneous Q&A dispersed throughout. Listen carefully and you'll hear it all.
By being born in the US, Serene was privileged with Israeli citizenship in spite of her Palestinian blood. Even though Israel's ubiquitous and always-increasing checkpoints were easier to navigate because of her papers, she and her family suffered harsh discrimination for their skin color.
Before that, we begin the show by rememberingâ¦remembering that a year ago Israeli bombs were falling on Gaza. To mark this one year anniversary of that tragi assault on Israel, Refaat Alareer and Laila El Haddad have co-edited an anthology called "Gaza Unsilenced" (published by Just World Books ). We present some excerpts from the editors' introductory essay that encapsulate the horror of Operation Protective Edge.
