Waiting for Justice, The Scottsboro Boys Case Then & The Central Park Five Case Now featuring Prof. Kwando Kinshasa, author The Scottsboro Boys in Their Own Words: Selected Letters, 1931-1950, and Omowale Clay, activist with the December 12th Movement The Scottsboro Boys in Their Own Words - the prison letters of nine African American youth facing the death penalty, and what they teach us and today's manifestation of Scottsboro the case of the Central Park Five. Nine African American s were indicted in Scottsboro, Alabama in 1931 falsely accused of rape. Though most of the defendants were barely literate and all of them were teenagers when incarcerated, over the course of almost two decades they learned the basic rudiments of effective letter writing and in doing so forcefully expressed a wide range of perspectives on their circumstances, the nature of the case, and falsity of the charges against them. Now Prof. Kwando Kinshasa author of The Scottsboro Boys in Their Own Words: Selected Letters, 1931-1950, his latest work in his trilogy on the case talks about their survival, courage, resistance and political growth, in their own words through their extraordinary letters, and those of their families and attorneys. Prof. Kinshasa is also joined by community activist Omowale Clay to discuss the contemporary parallel to Scottsboro, the case of the Central Park Five, both ensnared by a racist system, both still waiting for justice!

Aided by Chumbawamba, the Butthole Surfers, the Misfits, and Hegemony, Doc Ellis and Doktor Bugbladder beam random scattershot sonic therapies into the ether, trolling for their lost fish. On March 29, 2014, Dr. Shiva spoke at the North Centennial Community Centre In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada at the invitation of a local collective known as Power House Producers in association with the Women's and Gender Studies Students Association, and the University of Winnipeg's Womyn's Centre. Her speech followed a so-called Feast of forgotten foods which highlighted a meal prepared by local activists with organic ingredients all provided by local farmers for an audience of about a hundred people. Preceding the talk was an announcement about a Bill moving through the Canadian House of Commons known as Bill C-18, the Agricultural Growth Act which critics argue undermines traditional farm practices by ensuring the intellectual property rights over new varieties of seeds to the plant breeders that generate them and force farmers to pay a royalty to them when crops from those seeds go to market. Dioxin Exposure Epigenetic Effects Lead to Disease Later in Life

Dr. Michael Skinner studies the effects of exposure to toxic substances on genetic material. He and other researchers in the field of epigenetics have established a new paradigm in disease causation. During various stages of life certain cells are susceptible to changes in the molecules attached to DNA in the chromosomes. When an epigenetic shift takes place these cells will develop into cells that are profoundly different from cells in which no epigenetic shift has occurred. Later in life the cells with the epigenetic shift can have a role in disease causation. Diseases that have been associated with epigenetic shifts include: polycystic ovary disease, cancer, obesity, metabolic diseases and abnormalities in the testes and ovaries. Humans are mammals. Dr. Skinner explains that epigenetic effects observed in animal models such as rats and pigs are taking place in humans. Many substances that we are exposed to every day are now known to cause epigenetic shifts. Most well known among these chemicals are dioxins in animal fat containing foods and bisphenol A, which is present in the lining of cans used for food containers and in cash register receipts. It is now well established that epigenetic effects are linked to serious harm to human health making exposure minimization highly important.
