Voyage of the Golden Rule - An Experiment With Truth

Feb. 15, 2024, 4:54 a.m.
Talk given at the end of the Great Circle Tour of 2023. How the Golden Rule, a 30 ft ketch rigged sailboat, was found and restored by Veterans For Peace to continue its original goal of energizing public opinion to action to check the insanity of nuclear weapons. Credited with halting their atmospheric testing by raising public awareness, the little sail boat that could, now in its second life had just completed an 11,000 mile journey to challenge nuclear militarism, reckless normalization of nuclear war and the 24/7 radiation contamination of our environment by nuclear power with its waste; a big mission for a 30 foot boat. Captain Kiko who sailed the Golden Rule from Hawaii back to the U.S. ahead of the tour tells the history of how it and the original crew set sail in 1958 to the Marshall Islands, intent on stopping ongoing atomic bomb tests and in the process inspired the political movement that ended atmospheric testing against the demands of the Generals, Industrialists and military scientists. This Midwest to East Coast to Great Lakes journey stopped in many cities and even Cuba to engage in the work of Peace through education and community building. Both counter the propaganda that erases the historical facts of atmospheric testing: during hundreds of tests, radioactive Cesium 137 and Strontium 90 fell on ALL of the continental United States and continues today to move through the food chain. In 1958, St. Louis, Mo was a hot spot where mothers, concerned about Strontium 90 contaminating milk they were feeding their infants, started the Baby Tooth Survey that helped convince President John F Kennedy to halt atmospheric testing. But by that time the legacy of the Pacific atmospheric tests had poisoned the Marshal Islanders and their homes forever. The U.S. Military continued to study the effects the radiation exposure had on them because according to one American scientist: "They were more like us than rats". Racism was prevalent then and remains so in almost all things nuclear.

"Concern" without action is complicity in Israel's crimes in Gaza

Feb. 15, 2024, 4:36 a.m.
Israel is continuing its planned transfer/destruction of the people of Gaza. All talk of "talks" is cover for Bibi's criminal long-term plan. When Blinkin meets with Sisi and the Gulf royals he is lording it over America's assets and imposing hegemony. Israel is the point of the American imperialist spear in West Asia. The US has busy bases all over the region. The fight to remove the neo-colonial system will continue, long and brutal, but will be won.

A Poison Like No Other – Matt Simon - TUC Archives

Feb. 13, 2024, 7:46 p.m.
Welcome to this program from TUC Radio’s Archives, first broadcasts on Jan. 3, 2023. Almost all plastics in use today are so called “petrochemicals,” products made from fossil fuels like oil, coal, and gas. This industry is booming and plastics are showing up not just in manufacturing, construction and road building, but in our personal environment, our homes, households, clothes, furniture, and the food distribution systems we depend on. The very thing that makes plastic so useful – its toughness – means it never really goes away. It just gets smaller and smaller: eventually small enough to enter the atmosphere and be inhaled, or be absorbed by food crops that are watered with sewage sludge. We are already exploring the spread of microplastics in the oceans. Included in this program are excerpts from Plastic Talks – hosted by Erica Cirino, the Communications Manager of the Plastic Pollution Coalition. She is speaking with Matt Simon, Science writer for Wired Magazine and author of A Poison Like No Other. How Microplastics Corrupted Our Planet and Our Bodies. DATE: 2024/02/13

Feb. 13, 2024, 4:55 a.m.
This week we continue coverage of the massive frauds perpetrated by the Israeli Government, including its bogus charges that Hamas fighters, during their raid on October 7th, raped and mutilated women, murdered and beheaded babies, etc. President Joe Biden and his administration have adopted the false claims, standard media have followed, and Israel's long-planned genocide of Gaza has begun, with major US help. The New York Times is being examined for supporting the fraudulent claims, now that the events of Oct 7th are being scrutinized by independent media. We begin with the Electronic Intifada's findings. Nora Barrows-Friedman and Ali Abunimah discuss the most recent revelations about this massive fraud. Following that, we have further examination by Jeremy Scahill, who wrote an extensive report for The Intercept Magazine. He discusses his report with Nermeen Shaikh and Amy Goodman on Democracy Now.

Feb. 9, 2024, 6:41 p.m.
This week’s archive radio show revisits January of 2021 whilst Joe Biden was transitioning into the White House — and I warned that since his cabinet and his advisory team was utterly dominated by war profiteers then our new president was likely to very quickly get us into another war… Why am I always so prophetic? I really wish I was wrong more often. Anyway — Joe Biden represents the Warmonger’s apotheosis — so watch your asses and your pocketbooks…
