Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. Rump roast horrors! Dead sixth graders! And a mind-melting hidden history of the Early SubGenius Church! So yeah...I suggest you strap yourself in good and tight for this dizzyingly gutsplitting romp, because you will be pissing yourself in hilarious ecstasy as the two Susies expose shocking secrets, sidesplitting shames, and jawdropping passions!

Academic & Cultural Boycott of Israel and the American Studies Association

In Response to Responses to the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel with Riham Barghouti, Palestinian American, who worked lived in Palestine for 10 years and worked at Birzeit University, founding member of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel and Adalah-NY and Andrew Ross, Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis, N.Y.U. Member, American Studies Association NYS Senate co-leader Jeffrey Klein (D-Bronx) and Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) introduced a bill that would give colleges and universities in New York 30 days to withdraw their support from groups like the American Studies Association, which recently voted for such an academic boycott, or NYS lawmakers Senate co-leader Jeffrey Klein (D-Bronx) and Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) want to strip aid from universities whose faculty participate in academic organizations that urge a boycott against Israel. The bill passed the Senate but is stalled in the Assembly. This is in response to the American Studies Association (ASA), which recently voted for such an academic boycott. New York University, Cornell, Columbia, SUNY Buffalo and SUNY Stony Brook are among the institutions with faculty affiliated with the ASA, made up of 5,000 professors.The ASA over-whelmingly voted to refuse to enter into formal collaborations with Israeli academic institutions, or with scholars who are expressly serving as representatives or ambassadors of those institutions , or on behalf of the Israeli government, until Israel ceases to violate international law. and human rights. We ll discuss the growing efficacy of the boycotts, divestiture and sanctions movement.
