WINGS#39-23 Robin Morgan on Ms. ...
Jan. 9, 2024, 12:51 a.m.
From the WINGS archive, 1991: Then-Editor-In-Chief of Ms. Magazine Robin Morgan describes the fruitless struggle to get revelations about Clarence Thomas's history of sexism into mainstream media before he was confirmed to the US Supreme Court, and also how and why Ms. Magazine under her leadership went ad-free, because of the censorship power advertisers impose on media. Ms. has just released a book about its first 50 years of feminist publishing. Updates by Frieda Werden.

Episode 169 January 7 2024 Romping thru the history of popular music once again
Jan. 7, 2024, 3:21 p.m.
Back to the routine of digging thru old records to find forgotten gems of yesteryear. There's lots, like one from Rene Hall, one of the most prolific recording artists ever but virtually unknown even to many music-lovers. We'll hear a Drifters record from 1960 that didn't have one original member of the Drifters on it, and nobody noticed. Then we've got an un-recognized gospel singer who helped change the course of popular music, new music from Weepin' Dave who certainly gets classic country and a whole lot more. A show not to be missed.

She is the author of, “A Graceful Farewell: Putting Your Affairs in Order,” a collection of ideas and forms that make it easy to list what you own and where everything is. In my day job I am an attorney in Ukiah, California and devote a portion of my practice to estate planning. Maggie Watson and I met in the studios of Radio Curious in early December, 2006.

We take an updated look at the weaponization of the law by Israel's Lawfare Project, which has launched an offensive against organizations and projects that support the Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation of their homeland. We focus on the analysis and significance of the lawsuit that Jewish National Fund brought against the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, a coalition of pro-Palestinian organizations here in the US.
We join the US Campaign's executive director, Ahmed Abuznaid, and their Attorney Diala Shamas of the Center for Constitutional Rights. The conversation is kicked off by Foundation for Middle East Peace’s Lara Friedman.
UPDATE: Since our initial report aired 3-5-2023, the Jewish National Fund has now lost at both District and Appellate Court levels. Nonetheless, on 12-23-2023, JNF filed a petition for writ of certiorari, hoping for review at the hard-right-dominated US Supreme Court.
